Solwhit set for Fighting Fifth A clash between the top two in the betting for the Champion Hurdle is on the cards later this month with Charles Byrnes likely to pitch Solwhit into the WBX.com Fighting Fifth Hurdle at Newcastle. Solwhit emerged as a top-quality performer towards the end of last season, winning the Aintree Hurdle and beating Punjabi at Punchestown. He returned to the same track last Sunday in the Dobbins & Madigans at Punchestown Hurdle, drawing nicely clear of Muirhead and the much-vaunted Hurricane Fly. The five-year-old is only behind Nicky Henderson's Binocular in the Cheltenham market, with Henderson electing to send that horse for the Fighting Fifth instead of Punjabi. "He's fine and seems to have come out of the race well," said Byrnes. "I'd say it's more than likely he'll run at Newcastle." The Fighting Fifth takes place on Saturday November 28.
