A bumper winner and placed four times in six previous starts over flights, the 5/4 favourite Something Abouther made no mistake in the the Aramark Ireland Mares Maiden Hurdle.

Stepping up in trip having never gone beyond two miles, the daughter of Flemensfirth tracked the pace before leading two out and was ridden clear by Aidan Kelly before the last. She stayed on well to beat Ginnets Girl by eight and a half lengths.

Winning trainer Padraig Roche said: "She had a couple of good runs. Paul (Shanahan, part-owner) was always looking for a mare and we bred her at home.

“She won her bumper but then things just went wrong. In fairness to Paul and the lads they gave me plenty of time with her and it's done her the world of good.

“Aidan said the step up in trip didn't do her any harm. She's a nice mare and it's nice to get the maiden out of the way.

“Aidan said she handled the ground fine and I'd say she's fairly versatile.

“I'll chat with Paul and the team and see what they want to do but after that you'd love to keep her going.

“That family only gets better with time so if she keeps going hopefully she could progress into a nice mare.”
