Sonapour ran out the fortunate winner of the opening Ladies Free on Littlewoods Ladies Day July 28th Maiden Hurdle at Wexford today, benefiting from the final flight fall of 9/4 favourite Defence Of Duress

Sonapour was under pressure to maintain a small lead entering the straight and was joined by a strong travelling Defence Of Duress (under Bryan Cooper) approaching the final flight. However the 'jolly' met the final obstacle on a wrong stride and fell, leaving Sonapour to score a four and a half lengths win over Why But Why

Afterwards Lynch stated “that was great”, before adding “they (the hurdles) are there to be jumped.”

“I'm not sure where he'll run next - he might go to Galway for a winners' of one but he needs good ground. That's my second winner for Chris Jones – Lapse of Reason was my first for him at Fairyhouse last year.”
