Song On Course For America

Soviet Song is likely to have two runs in the autumn before heading to New York for the Breeders´ Cup Mile at Belmont Park.

James Fanshawe´s five-year-old mare looks set to head to Ireland for the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown on September 10, before taking in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket three weeks later.

The crack miler found only rising star Proclamation too good when narrowly losing out on back-to-back wins in the Sussex Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, but has reportedly thrived since.

'She has come out of her last race really well and we have quite a few options to consider for the autumn,' said Matthew Budden, racing manager to owners the Elite Racing Club.

'At the moment, the plan would probably be to have a look at the Matron Stakes in Ireland, which we won last year.

'If we do go for the Matron she would probably then end up going for the Sun Chariot instead of the QEII, and the plan would probably be to give her two runs before she goes to America.

'The most important thing is the time between her races and how to plan that.

'The QEII is only a fortnight after the Matron, which might just be pushing it a little bit, and the Sun Chariot is worth exactly the same as the QEII.'
