Song Tops Forest Field

Last year´s leading miler Soviet Song heads a field of just 12 fillies and mares for the Group Two Windsor Forest Stakes at Royal Ascot at York on Wednesday.

James Fanshawe has also kept the five-year-old in the Queen Anne Stakes next week, a race she was second in last season.

It would be the multiple Group One winner´s first start since last September´s Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, where she was sixth behind Rakti.

Leading the opposition is Aidan O´Brien´s representative Airwave, formerly a top sprinter for Henry Candy, who was successful in her first attempt at a mile last month.

Other top females engaged include recent Epsom scorer Sundrop, Patrick Haslam´s Kinnaird and the Gerard Butler-trained Tarfah.

Sir Michael Stoute has kept in both Peeress and Celebration Mile heroine Chic while Ianina represents German trainer Ralf Rohne.

The field is completed by Majestic Desert, Attune, Lucky Spin and Tropical Lady.
