Special Olympics Fundraiser at Gowran Park Members of the Gardaí, ten Kilkenny hoteliers and some surprise guests are set to dress up and gallop a furlong at Gowran Park on Sunday 21st September. The novel event, which will be part of the Denny Cordell Lavarack race day, is set to raise €6,000 for the sports charity that supports people with an intellectual disability. Organiser Eddie Scally commented “We are delighted to be holding this fun, unique event at Gowran Park. We choose Sunday 21st September as this is the Denny Cordell Lavarack Race Day, and always attracts a large crowd. We are hoping that people will support Special Olympics by coming along and placing a bet on their favourite to win! Tickets for the event cost €15 and under 18’s are free. There will also be free buses going from Kilkenny Castle on the day and Paddy Casey will be performing live on the day.” People interested in supporting Special Olympics can find fundraising events and ideas on www.specialolympics.ie or contact the Leinster office on 01 629 6999.
