Speciosa Handed Oaks Mission

Pam Sly has confirmed Stan James 1000 Guineas heroine Speciosa will be supplemented for the Vodafone Oaks at Epsom.

The Danehill Dancer filly gave connections a dream success in the Newmarket Classic at the beginning of the month and Sly along with Speciosa's other owners, her son Michael and Dr Tom Davies, have decided to pay the #20,000 fee and bid for a Classic double.

Sly told the Racing Post: 'We've made our minds up and we are going to go for the Oaks with her.'

The Peterborough handler also had the option of a crack at Sunday's Irish 1000 Guineas and she is keeping her fingers crossed Speciosa will get the mile-and-a-half trip at Epsom.

Sly added: 'She's fine in herself and we are hoping that she will stay the trip.

'For me at this moment she'll get a mile and a quarter and I think by going for the Oaks we are going forward as opposed to going for another Guineas.'

The last filly complete the Guineas-Oaks double was Kazzia in 2002.
