Spellacy's Cross has really found his winning groove and added to Clonmel gains from the start of the month when winning the Botanica International Handicap Chase at the same track.

A further trip of two miles five furlongs was on offer and the 5/2 favourite came away from his rivals before the final fence. Once he popped that, he strode away under Donagh Meyler by five lengths.

The places were filled by Ceroc (13/2) in second with Person Of Interest third at 5/1.

Jimmy Barcoe said: "He is very uncomplicated and has a great style of racing as he is very relaxed in himself. We're very lucky John O'Neill got involved in him and we're delighted with him.

"From an early age, he had been taught how to jump and he has plenty of scope. He is a brother to a good horse Rapid Escape, so is nicely bred.

"He really takes to fences but his hurdle mark also looks nice, so he can do both."

Spellacy's Cross took the honours in a handicap chase over an extended two-and-a-quarter-miles in Clonmel three weeks ago.
