Trainer Noel Meade is confident that Sportinthepark is primed for Sunday's Troytown Chase at Navan, with the big Walk In The Park gelding coming into the race in excellent form.

Sportinthepark Ready for Troytown Challenge

Trainer Noel Meade is pleased with leading Troytown Chase contender Sportinthepark ahead of the big race at Navan on Sunday.

Speaking to journalist Dave Keena, he said: "Yeah, that's Plan A at the moment anyway. Hopefully everything goes well through the week. He's come back from Galway well and he seems to be doing well and is well at home, so all systems go for the Troytown. Soft ground won't be a problem. He's a big horse, big Walk In The Park horse. I think Navan is made for him."

Regarding that aforementioned reappearance win, Meade added: "I wouldn't have thought he was fully wound up in Galway. He was ridden very patiently because we thought he might need it but he won well. But he was going in 15lb lighter then he was over fences, so I suppose that was a big help."

Meade Targets Another Troytown Success

On the Troytown, Meade said: "I've won it a couple of times. Sure it's the big one in Navan, the one you'd like to win in Navan always. It's never easy to win it but I've been lucky enough to win it a couple of times."

He continued: "It's a big weekend and it's a great track. It's probably one of the best tracks in the country. You know it's very fair and if you get beat in Navan, it's usually because you are not good enough."
