Spring Heeled could be Sandown bound Jim Cullotty's Cheltenham Festival winner Spring Heeled remains a possible for Saturday's bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown. However, Tom Taaffe's Argocat and the Willie Mullins-trained Prince De Beauchene are among the defectors at the five-day stage. Houblon Des Obeaux has been left at the head of the weights following the withdrawal of Tidal Bay, meaning the weights are set to rise which will bring more runners into the handicap proper. Other notable absentees include the Hennessy winner Triolo D'Alene, Night In Milan and Grand National fourth Alvarado. The popular pair of Carruthers and Restless Harry could still run, while Paul Nicholls' main hope appears to be Bury Parade. Nicky Henderson could run Hadrian's Approach, while Ardkilly Witness may represent Grand National winner Dr Richard Newland. Godsmejudge is still in the mix for Alan King, with the likes of Bally Legend, Midnight Appeal, Rigadin De Beauchene, Same Difference and Poungach all engaged too.
