Sprint Cup moves to Doncaster on Ladbrokes St Leger Day Following the unfortunate spell of weather leading to the cancellation of today's Haydock Park card, the feature race, the Sprint Cup, has been transferred to Doncaster in a week's time when it will take place on Ladbrokes St Leger day, Saturday, September 13. The Group One race will be sponsored by Ladbrokes and supported by the Levy Board. The race will re-open for entries on Monday. Ian Renton, Racing Director at Arena Leisure, owners of Doncaster Racecourse, said this afternoon: "We are very pleased to have the chance of staging this important Group One race on behalf of Haydock Park and would like to thank Douglas Erskine-Crum of the Levy Board for a substantial contribution to the transferred race and to our sponsors Ladbrokes who have added the race to their already generous contribution at the 2008 St Leger Festival. Doncaster's Clerk of the Course David Williams reported the course to be in excellent condition despite 30 millimetres of rain yesterday and overnight. The going today (Saturday, September 6) is described as good to soft on the straight course, good to soft, soft in places on the round course. The #500,000 Ladbrokes St Leger, the final British Classic of 2008, is the highlight of the September 13 card at Doncaster which also stages excellent racing on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, September 10th to 12th.
