Without a win since rattling up a hat-trick for Fozzy Stack in 2020, Star Of Cashel landed the second split of the Rose Hotel Handicap.

Sent off 5/1, the No Nay Never gelding was away well from a wide draw under Adam Caffrey and soon tracked the front-runner Sheila He went past that one over a furlong out and went away to account for her by three and half lengths. What Adaay was a further length and three quarters back in third.

Winning trainer Ado McGuinness said: "That's not before his time but he had slipped down the ratings and had a good record at this track.

"The kid was very good on him, he was drawn way out and gave him a positive ride. He made his mind up for him jumping out so quick and that as a big factor, especially around here. I'll put it down to the young fella.

"He is good value for 7lb, that was a great ride and the way he jumped out won that race.

"He is in again at the Curragh on Sunday and will probably run there. I think the handicapper won't be too nice to him!"
