The Jog For Jockeys Handicap Chase proved a real triumph for trainer Henry de Bromhead as Beckwith Star edged out stablemate Tisamystery in a thrilling finish at Wexford.

Beckwith Star was prominent throughout under Adam O'Neill in this two-mile event but those who backed him down to 5/2 favourite (5/1 this morning and supported in from 7/2 on track) must have feared the worst most of the way up the straight.

Andrew Lynch sent Tisamystery into the lead three out, and the 5/1 chance appeared set to score on the run-in.

However O'Neill, who was having his first ride for the Co. Waterford handler, didn't accept defeat on the 'jolly' and got his mount back up literally on the line to score by a short-head. Theatre Mill finished three and a quarter lengths adrift in third.

De Bromhead missed the victory but O'Neill said, "He missed the last two, he wasn't as quick as the second horse, I didn't think I was going to catch him. I'd say the second horse just idled away and let me get there more than anything.

"That is my first ride for Henry and I ride out for him most mornings. It is nice to get the ride and winner."
