Station X provided Bryan Smart with his biggest winner for eight years in the Ladbrokes Ayr Silver Cup

Smart, once a regular player at the top table, has not had too much to shout about since Tangerine Trees landed the Nunthorpe in 2018.

The four-year-old Station X (18-1) has been doing his best to advertise his talents, however, winning three times already this season.

Bred and owned by Simon Chappell, who won the Great St Wilfrid with Nameitwhatyoulike with Smart in 2016, Station X just got the better of Goldmoyne by a nose.

“He's a wonderful horse and loves ground like that,” said Chappell.

“All credit to Beth (Smart's daughter and assistant) who was insistent we run him!

“Smarty trains all of the progeny of the mare (She's A Worldie) and I'm delighted for the whole Smart family, they work relentlessly hard and deserve big winners like this. I must have had horses with them for about 20 years now.”
