The Willie McCreery-trained Steel Magnolia (7/2 JF) was an easy winner of the Big EVS at Tally Ho Handicap by three and three-quarters of a length, giving her trainer and jockey Billy Lee a double on the day at Naas.

The four-year-old daughter of Coulsty was second on her last start when behind Dandyland, and out of stall 18, travelled very comfortably throughout the contest on the stand side.

When Lee gave her the licence to extend, she duly obliged and was a comfortable three-and-three-quarter length winner at the end.

Speaking after the race, McCreery said: “That’s grand, she’s my own. Amanda and myself bred her,” said McCreery.

“She’s Happy Henry’s little sister, so it’s great that the two of them have won this year, it keeps everything rolling.

“It’s great to get another winner for Billy, he’s riding out of his skin. I’m delighted.

“We’ll look for something similar for her.”
