There was a cracking finish to the first division of the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Stadium Handicap as previous course winners Storm Eric and International Lady locked horns from a furlong and a half out and drew clear of the remainder.

Sent of 100/30 joint-favourites, the pair had both come from off the pace and, after a good tussle, it was Storm Eric who prevailed by a short head for owner /trainer Jamie Flynn who was on lead up duty.

The runner-up had gone down by a head when second here last Friday.

Winning rider Adam Caffrey said: "All his best form is up here.

"He had a good run the last day in Galway and was coming back here today to a surface that he really likes.

"There was plenty of pace on early doors which really suited. I was able to take my time a bit, ride him how he likes to be ridden, and he quickened up really well.

"He probably idled a bit in front but, when Colin (Keane on International Lady) came to me, he battled out really well.

"He was very good and is very tough, so delighted."
