Stoute Waits On Rob Roy

Sir Michael Stoute will leave a decision on Rob Roy's participation in the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes until nearer the time.

But the Freemason Lodge trainer has confirmed stablemate Peeress is an intended runner at Newbury tomorrow week.

After a below-par campaign in 2005 owing to niggly problems, Rob Roy returned to form with a promising success in the betfred.com Mile at Sandown last month.

The Group One contest could be the next port of call for the Lear Fan colt, but Stoute will assess ground conditions before committing his charge.

'Peeress will definitely run in the Lockinge but Rob Roy's target will only be decided once we see what the ground is like, as I would not want it to be too fast,' said Stoute.

'He is also entered in the Prix d'Ispahan at Longchamp the day after Newbury.'

Peeress, who scored at the highest level in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket in October, could be joined in the #200,000 contest by another star mare in Soviet Song.

The latter worked well in Newmarket earlier in the week and her trainer James Fanshawe said: 'She has definitely started to turn the corner.

'But we will not make a decision as to whether we go for the Lockinge or Ridgewood Pearl (at the Curragh) until after the weekend as she will work again on Saturday morning.'
