Street Value opened his account over fences in good style when claiming the GAIN Handicap Chase at Cork .

The John Flavin-trained gelding had won twice over hurdles in January last year the 9/4 shot struck on his first start in handicap company over the larger obstacles.

2/1 favourite Carrolls Cottage went on from Castlebrook after the third last in the two-and-a-half mile contest after the pair had disputed for much of the race.

Street Value launched his challenge two from home, where he was a touch untidy as he had also been at the previous fence.

The Well Chosen gelding took over down to the last, under Danny Mullins, and asserted with a slick jump there to go on and post a six-length victory.

"The owners (Miracle Cure Syndicate) haven't been at the races in two years and weren't allowed in for his two wins last January so I'm delighted to be able to pay them back with a lovely win. These owners have been with me since I started,” said Flavin.

"I'm very lucky as I've good owners with good syndicates who have stuck with me through the past two years.

"This was the horse's first handicap and he just loves that ground. I didn't want to run him at Leopardstown as the ground wasn't soft enough and there was no race for him at Limerick (over Christmas). We had to wait for the soft ground but once he has that, he is a happy horse.

"I'll see what the handicapper does now but he'll have to brush up his jumping

"He is a good flag-bearer when I'm getting going myself and hopefully we can win another race or two. I have 15 in training and am after building a yard with 30 stables and am always looking for more."
