Velka Pardubicka winner Stumptown is recovering from his exertions and is not expected to be back in action until the spring, according to his trainer Gavin Cromwell.

The Laverock gelding landed the Cross Country Chase at this year's Cheltenham festival and that contest is the next big target that Cromwell has in mind for his charge.

"Stumptown is on a break and Cheltenham in March is the main plan. He won't do a whole pile between now and then, he might have a prep run over hurdles, we'll see.

"His win in the Czech Republic took plenty out of him with three full days of travelling over and then the race, and everything. The whole thing took place over 10 days."
