The Aidan O'Brien-trained Ballydoyle (4-7 favourite) got off the mark at the third attempt with a smooth success in the Rossdale EBF Stallions Maiden Fillies' Stakes at Newmarket.

Joseph O'Brien had the beautifully-bred youngster, who had just been pipped in Royal Ascot's Chesham Stakes on her previous start, close to the pace before asking her to go about her business.

Appreciating every yard of the seven furlongs she was putting in her best work at the finish as she pulled two and three-quarter lengths clear of Nemoralia with newcomer Haggle another two and a quarter lengths away in third.

The trainer said: "She had a nice first time run and ran a lovely race at Ascot and it was lovely to come here and win.

"Joseph was very happy with her. We could step up (in trip), but we'd have no problems keeping her at seven. There's a fillies' race at Leopardstown we might go to, but we'll just go gentle with her.

"We always thought she was a very nice filly. She is very well bred and I imagine she'll be a Guineas filly."
