There is huge shock and sadness in Coolcullen this weekend at the sad and sudden passing of John Hayes.

A native of Mallow, Co Cork, Hayes has been a major part of the team at Jim Bolger's for almost 40 years.

Amateur Career and Breeding Legacy

He rode successfully as an amateur in the early part of his career and was also a renowned producer of Connemara ponies.

He had a remarkable ability to judge the character and potential of horses, and his knowledge and experience earned him the respect of all who knew him.

He has passed on this passion and love of horses to his children ensuring that his knowledge and values will continue for generations to come.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Bernadette and his children Shauna, Caoimhe, Saoirse, and Colin.

May he rest in peace.
