Spring Loaded will not be aimed at the All-Weather Championships Sprint Final as Paul D’Arcy looks at another summer campaign on turf for his smart speedster.

The Newmarket trainer is hoping the seven-year-old will be good enough to contest the better conditions races as well as major handicaps in 2019.

Spring Loaded has proved himself to be effective over both five and six furlongs, and has been enjoying a winter break after a successful 2018 that ended with a fine third in the Listed Rous Stakes at Ascot in October.

“He had a hard summer turf campaign so we gave him the winter off and we’ll go again in the summer,” said D’Arcy.

“He’ll go for the big handicaps and we’ll probably at look at pattern races with him.”

Spring Loaded was quoted between 7-1 and 16-1 for the Sprint Final at Lingfield on Good Friday.
