Summit Star recorded her second win over the extended ten furlongs on the polytrack this winter when routing her rivals in the Book Online @DundalkStadium.com Handicap.

The Sheila Lavery-trained filly went up 8lb for her previous win in November and looks set for another sizeable hike after taking command here in the final furlong.

The 4/1 favourite headed the front-running Power Drive early in the straight and went right away under Gary Carroll to beat that rival by all of four-and-three-quarter lengths.

In a race where very few of the 14 runners got involved, Very Excellent was also prominent throughout and kept on at one pace to take third.

Carroll said, “She did that well. The last time she probably didn't fully relax with me in front. She relaxed lovely today, quickened well and got to the line well.

“She feels like a filly that is improving and hopefully there is more in her. She has a lovely pedigree and maybe she's just taken a bit of time, that was good off 9lb higher than her last win.”
