Sun Goddess shows her class in Group 1 Phoenix Stakes The 5/4 favourite Sun Goddess was a classy winner of the Group 1 Phoenix Stakes for jockey Ryan Moore. The daughter of Sioux Nation had been victorious on her previous start at the Curragh and made it 3/3 at the Co. Kildare track with a further success today. In the early part of the race, she didn't look to be travelling with her usual zest, but once Moore drover into contention, she easily slipped into the lead and fended off Folsom Blues to score by a length and a quarter. After recording an 18th victory in this race, winning trainer Aidan O'Brien commented "She's a beautiful filly. She ran well at Naas the first day, then came back here to win her maiden, and went to Ascot probably a little under par with the benefit of hindsight. "Then she came back here and won even though she was in Ascot the week before. "She's obviously very special and everything went really well since Ascot. "She has a lot of gears and a very high cruising pace. Ryan said they went fast and he just said when he started to ask her, she motored clear. "He said she'll have no problem getting seven furlongs.
