Hilltop Supreme soared clear over the last to run out an impressive winner of the concluding novice handicap chase at Clonmel this afternoon. Big Debates cut out the running in the race, run over just shy of two-miles-two, but was claimed by Hilltop Supreme on the run to the second last.

The Davy Fitzgerald-trained gelding produced a fine leap at the last to go clear and galloped on strongly in the closing stages, for Darragh O'Keeffe, to record a 12 length success.

Hilltop Supreme had won four over timber earlier in the year and was having his second start of this campaign. He was racing off a mark 20lb lower over fences.

Fitzgerald said:- "Hopefully this is the start of some more wins and we'll find something in Limerick for him over Christmas next.

“He loves soft ground, Leopardstown will be too good and he's not high enough in the grade yet to go there."
