Surprise from Oxx Trainer John Oxx sent out the winner of the featured Batterstown Handicap at Fairyhouse, but it was outsider D`Anjou rather than favourite Give A Whistle who landed the spoils. The latter was backed from 2 to 1 to 6 to 4 but lost all chance when badly hampered in an incident just over 2f out that also resulted in an injury to Frosty Wind. D`Anjou meanwhile avoided all the trouble, arriving with a sweeping run on the outside under Catherine Gannon to win going away by two lengths. Apprentice find Pat Cosgrave enjoyed another good day,notching up a double aboard Cherry Falls and King`s Opera.
