Symphony Has Windsor Target

Russian Symphony is likely to return to action at Windsor rather than risk elimination from the Wokingham Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Trainer Charles Egerton is eyeing the #50,000 totesport Stakes (Heritage Handicap) on July 1 for the five-year-old's return to action after a near six-month break.

Russian Symphony holds an entry in the Wokingham on June 24 but is unlikely to get in the race as a maximum field of 28 is allowed and he is currently 80th in the handicap on 8st.

'I've given him a break. He's in the Wokingham but I don't think he'll get in it so I'll probably start him off at Windsor on July 1,' Egerton told At The Races.

The Newbury trainer expressed disappointment at Russian Symphony's last run when he was only ninth to Les Arcs in a six-furlong handicap on the all-weather at Wolverhampton in January.

'I was disappointed with his last run. He's infinitely better than that and has put in better performances,' Egerton added.
