TOFF TO WAIT FOR WETHERBY

Tullymurry Toff will not run at Haydock on Saturday, trainer Malcolm Jefferson revealed today.

The prospect of "sticky" ground has ruled the gelding out of the Travelling The Turf Racecourse Guide Handicap Chase at the Merseyside track.

The gelding, second to The Last Fling in the Bet Direct Edward Hanmer Memorial Chase at Haydock before falling in the Hennessy Cognac Gold Cup at Newbury, is likely to go for the Monkton Chase at Wetherby on January 13th instead.

Jefferson said: "I don't think he'll go to Haydock - I think he'll go to Wetherby instead for the Monkton Chase.

"I don't know whether he likes the ground heavy and the ground should be better at Wetherby.

"He's in great fettle. I was going to go to Haydock but it just gets a bit sticky there and I don't think he likes that."
