Tamino Set To Bypass Goodwood

Prince Tamino is likely to sidestep the Vodafone Stewards' Cup in favour of a short break following his close third in Wednesday's totesport.com Stakes at Newmarket.

The progressive Mozart gelding was an emphatic winner of the William Hill Trophy last month and came very close to providing handler Hughie Morrison with another high-profile success in the six-furlong contest.

Having quickened to dispute the lead approaching the final furlong, he was narrowly edged out by Dark Missile and Mutamarres.

Morrison reports him to have come back in good shape following those exertions, but feels he will benefit from some rest.

'I think I would be surprised if we go for the Stewards' Cup now,' he declared.

'He has come back fine but he had quite a hard race and we'll take things easy now.

'He ran very well and could have won it, but he had to give about a stone to the first and second.'
