Tannery wins E.P. Taylor in Canada Tannery, who won four races for for David Wachman before being transferred to the States, was successful in the E.P. Taylor Stakes at Woodbine yesterday. David Simcock's Moment In Time had to settle for third. The Newmarket-trained four-year-old had progressed through the handicap ranks to winning a Group Three in the first half of the campaign and was far from disgraced on this third run in Group One company. Dylan Thomas filly Tannery had to overcome a wide draw but came from last to narrowly prevail by a short-head after a thrilling duel with French invader Fitful Skies. Moment in Time rallied for third, ahead of Minakshi in fourth. "That's the way she wants to run," winning trainer Alan Goldberg said. "I was a little worried about three jumps from the wire when the other horse (Fitful Skies) started coming back. "Joel (Rosario) saved a little ground down the backside, brought her out where she wants to be and it worked out perfect. She's a very nice horse and we'll have a nice year with her next year." The winner's share was worth $319,400 to Tannery's connections.
