Tanoura wins for Kinane and Oxx

Tanoura benefited from a classic Mick Kinane ride to steal the honours in the Listed European Breeders' Fund Galtres Stakes at York.

The 3-1 shot was perfectly poised turning for home as front-running Uvinza began to tire after cutting out the early pace.

Moore was first to make his move aboard 11-4 favourite Leocorno and he looked to have stolen the prize as he was clear a furlong out.

However, Leocorno drifted across the track slightly as the John Oxx-trained Tanoura began to hit top gear and Kinane was at his strongest to come home three-quarters of a length clear.

Flame Of Gibraltar kept on gamely but was ultimately well held in third.

Kinane said: "She's a very lightly raced filly. We've had very bad ground at home so we've been waiting for a fast surface like this.

"She's very tough and there should be more to come from her now. She should at least be able to win a Group race and should have no problem getting a bit further than this."
