Amateur rider Finn Tegetmeier partnered his first winner over hurdles as Billie Frechette took the opening Sign Up To Our Newsletter Maiden Hurdle in fine style at Cork.

The Noel Meade-trained filly, already twice a winner on the Flat, headed the front-running No More Silver before the penultimate flight and kept on well to beat the odds-on favourite Luker’s Tipple by five lengths. Dschingis Dragon kept on to finish a further eight lengths back in third.

Tegetmeier said, “She jumped very well and loves that good ground. She travelled into the race lovely and picked up lovely over the last three hurdles and won strong at the line.

“I rode a bumper winner for Noel last year and also a winner for him in a point-to-point. That’s my first winner over hurdles.”
