Temple Meads impressive in Mill Reef Ed McMahon's Temple Meads returned to winning ways in devastating style with an authoritative win in the Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes. Winner of the Super Sprint at the track earlier in the season, he lost his unbeaten record when fourth in the Gimcrack. However, he turned form around with York second Crown Prosecutor in no uncertain terms, with Brian Meehan's charge eventually getting pipped on the line for second by Formosina. Richard Mullen always oozed confidence on the winner and sprinted clear a furlong and a half out to win by a length and three-quarters. Temple Meads had been very keen at York, and Mullen said of the 4-1 winner: "It was no-one's fault at York, he took Jimmy (Fortune) by surprise because in his first two races he was very laid-back, but he didn't settle at York. "A lot of things could have contributed to it. It's a long walk across the Knavesmire and he got a bump early on, if Jimmy Fortune can't hold him there is not much hope for the rest of us. "We learned a lot today, we knew we had to drop him out and get him switched off and he switched off lovely today and has done it with ease. I'm glad he's repaid the faith we had in him." McMahon added: "That has allayed my fears because at the back of my mind I was thinking six furlongs might be a little bit too far and we nearly went for the Flying Childers, but we knew from the way he worked at home he'd get the trip and he has proved it today. "He'd only run twice before York and was just starting to learn the game a bit. "It looks like it will be the Middle Park next."
