The Joseph O’Brien-trained Teologia quickened away impressively to run out a cosy winner of the Belfast Live Handicap at Down Royal.

Joey Sheridan produced his mount to challenge on the bridle crossing the road and asked her to hit the front a furlong-and-a-half from home.

The daughter of Teofilo soon shot clear and Sheridan could afford to ease up on the 11/4 shot late on as she recorded a five-and-a-half length victory over Espritroyale

Teologia was recording back-to-back course and distance wins, having won her maiden here just over three weeks ago.

Stable representative Mick Halford said: "It was a lovely race for her, and we knew she would handle the track obviously from the last day.

"She seemed to appreciate the ease in the ground, so she stepped forward and she did that nicely. She could be a big filly that's on the improve.

"She has loads of size and scope. I'd say she is just on the up.

"The horses have been running terrific."

On Royal Ascot, he added: "Absolutely amazing week, you'd have to pinch yourself.

"Wonderful place and Joseph deserves every bit of it and all the team for all the hard work they put in, it just doesn't happen by coincidence.

"He's a great man to work for and there's a great backup team there. As he (O'Brien) says himself, it is all about the team behind him. Blessed to be part of it and long may it last now."
