The Fugue prepares for Breeders' Cup The Fugue appears to have taken the long journey from Britain to Los Angeles well ahead of the Breeders' Cup meeting at Santa Anita next weekend. John Gosden is hoping the three-times Group One winner will have better luck than 12 months ago when she was third in the Filly & Mare Turf after enduring a rough passage in the mile-and-a-quarter race. Although she holds an entry in that race again, The Fugue is more likely to take on the colts in the Breeders' Cup Turf over a mile and a half. "They all flew from Stansted on Saturday on a direct cargo flight to Los Angeles rather than having to refuel somewhere," trainer Gosden said. "She seems to have travelled well. It's early days, and we know from travelling horses long distance you have to be careful. "Her first preference is stated as being in the Turf over a mile and a half against the colts. "I'll be track-side Wednesday morning. We'll have a feel of the turf, all being well. "She seemed happy in herself when she left. She had a solo breeze on Friday before flying on Saturday. "Apart from the length of the journey I'd have been very happy with everything."
