The Fugue to skip Goodwood The Fugue will not bid to repeat last year's victory in the Markel Insurance Nassau Stakes at Goodwood on Saturday. Trainer John Gosden has ruled Lord Lloyd-Webber's filly out of the Group One as he feels the race will come too soon after she was under the weather following a poor run in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown three weeks ago. "She ran brilliantly here at Ascot (in the Prince of Wales's Stakes) then she trained supremely up to the Eclipse," Gosden told At the Races. "I was very confident about her going into the race - her scope was perfect - then on the day she ran distressed, was full of mucus and everything. "I backed right off her and she is terribly well now and back cantering, but we're not rushing her back for the Nassau which she won last year. "When they've run like that you have to give them time. The Yorkshire Oaks or the Prix Jean Romanet at Deauville would be the strong possibilities."
