The Gurkha gets a break Aidan O'Brien is giving The Gurkha a well-deserved break following his victory in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood last week. That win came just 25 days after his hard race in the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown and the Ballydoyle trainer wants to give the French 2000 Guineas winner time to recover from those exertions. That means The Gurkha will not take up his engagement in the Prix Jacques le Marois at Deauville on August 14. "The Gurkha doesn't run in France. He's had two quick runs and he had a tough one at Sandown. It wouldn't be fair to go again," said O'Brien.
