The New One wins on seasonal debut The New One duly landed the odds on his seasonal debut in the williamhill.com Hurdle at Kempton Park. Winning this race for the second year running, the Nigel Twiston-Davies-trained ace was given a good work-out on his first start since landing the Aintree Hurdle in April. Held up in the early stages as Australia Day set the pace, The New One was switched to the far side by Sam Twiston-Davies to make his challenge at the second-last as Hint Of Mint proved the main danger, and the 2-11 favourite survived a mistake at the final hurdle before scoring by an easy two and a quarter lengths. The New One was completing a treble for the trainer and jockey after wins earlier on the card with Fond Memory and Wood Yer. Bookmakers Paddy Power and Coral left The New One unchanged as 7-2 joint-favourite with Faugheen for the Stan James Champion Hurdle in March. Twiston-Davies snr said: "I'm chuffed to bits and that's just what we needed. There's a new race at Haydock which he will probably go for, then Cheltenham in December (the International). If he's still going well he could come back here at Christmas."
