The regally-bred Thenandnow gained important winning brackets when taking the Bermingham Cameras Irish EBF Maiden at the Curragh in fine style.

Shane Foley always had his mount prominent in the six furlong contest and she quickened up smartly to lead over a furlong from home.

The Dubawi filly, a daughter of Group 1 winner Albigna, soon settled matters as she went on to post a cosy two-and-three-quarter length success over Cool Azul

Thenandnow had been runner-up on her debut last season but failed to build on that on three subsequent starts and trainer Jessica Harrington said:-

“Last year she just didn’t get things together after her first run. I’m delighted with her, she’s gotten stronger and got through that ground perfect.

“It was good to get that win from her and we’ll take it from here.

“She’s going to be a six furlong filly, she’s quick. Shane said she’d be better if something took her along a bit more.

“It was the first time she got there (to the front) and it was a case of ‘what am I doing out here’.

“She can quicken up well. We’ll probably look at a fillies race for her, possibly the Polonia Stakes in Cork. Black-type is very important.”
