Having been runner-up in his first two starts at the Curragh and Galway, the 8/11 favourite Tiverton go the job done in the two-year-old maiden.

The Dermot Weld-trained son of Expert Eye raced close to the pace and made his challenge over a furlong out. He gained a narrow lead in the final 100 yards and was ridden out by Chris Hayes to beat Boy Scout by half a length. Pearl Of Australia was a further length and a quarter back in third.

Kris Weld, assistant trainer to his father, said: "He is a lovely big horse and is still filling into a big frame. It was a good tough workmanlike performance from him and he put his experience to good use.

"He is the type of horse I expect to improve plenty over the winter.

"We might run him once more this year and might look for black type for him. The Killavullan Stakes would be an option but he could easily be put away for the winter."
