Third win of the year for Dartington

The 13/8 favourite Dartington was a snug winner of the two-mile novice hurdle.

The Siyouni gelding tracked the leaders and Jack Kennedy got a nice split between the front-running Tom McGreevy and the fading Weddell Sea racing towards the second-last. He was on terms two out and, although Tom McGreevy fought hard, Dartington took a narrow lead before the last and only had to be pushed out to score by half a length.

It was a third win over hurdles this year for Gordon Elliott's five-year-old after victories at Navan and Wexford.

Kennedy said: "He done that well. He jumped great and travelled great. He got held in a little bit but it probably suited him really because when he got there he didn't do a whole pile in front. He will get a bit further but a strong run two miles really suits him.

"It's great to be back after the break. It's great that we get the extra couple of weeks off. It's a long season and so it's nice to get a break but also nice to be getting back to it now as well."
