Volatile Analyst provided rookie trainer Stephen Thorne with his twelfth winner when taking the William Hill Top Price Guarantee Handicap at Dundalk.

The Shamrock Thoroughbreds-owned gelding was recording his second win over seven furlongs here this year and travelled well to lead well over a furlong out.

The Jack Kearney-ridden 11/4 chance kept on well inside the final furlong to beat Clonmacash by two and a half lengths with the winner’s stablemate Shoot To Kill just a neck back in third.

Thorne said, “I feel like we have rejuvenated the animal to no end. Obviously, Stephen (Mooney) my assistant has done a remarkable job with this horse. He rides him every day and all credit goes to him.

"We had to wait quite a while to get a result with this horse, but I knew once we got the result, we would get the confidence back into him.

"We have options. We will be looking at Lingfield (Good Friday) now, I don't know if we will be high enough to get into Newcastle. This horse will be dangerous in somewhere like Lingfield because he has the gears to travel. There might be another pot up here before we go.

"Jack is a great kid and very good value for the 5lb. We will support him as long as he keeps riding winners!"

On third-placed Shoot To Kill, he added: "The other horse has run a cracker again. He has had his two wins and he is always knocking on the door. A real 7f/1m drop-in horse and he is a credit to the lads.”

Thorne also reflected on Harry's Bar who was second when odds-on in the claimer earlier on the card: "Little bit (lonely in centre of track) and he's not getting any younger.

"We will probably be considering retirement in the next start or two. We have a lovely home organised for the horse when he is finished. There is one more race I think on the programme and then that's it. Then we will probably call it a day.

"He's been some servant. We won't get greedy, I want to retire him like a 90 horse. He has given his all.”
