Volatile Analyst grabbed his first victory since Listed glory at Doncaster in March 2022 when making the best way home in the Book Online At DundalkStadium.com Handicap over seven furlongs.

A new headgear combination of blinkers and a tongue-strap was deployed successfully.

The eight-year-old gelding made headway for Jack Kearney inside the final quarter of a mile and came through to lead at the furlong pole.

The 85/40 favourite saw it out well by a length and a-half from Free Solo (9/4). Clonmacash was another two and a-quarter lengths away in third at 10/1.

Stephen Thorne said: "He has been a heartbreak of a horse really. I'm just delighted now for everyone involved because a lot of patience has been required.

"I think 18 months since we bought him. A high-class horse and he's a horse that brought a lot of form from England to Ireland, but just didn't really translate it. It has just taken us so long.

"It has been a long time between drinks! Hopefully, that will give him the confidence now.

"We obviously changed up the headgear - blinkers, tongue-tie applied - and Jack gave him the most wonderful ride. He's obviously very under-utilised, Jack, and he's great value for 5lb. He carried everything out as we wished. He rode the horse last week (work) and the horse is in great form.

"We kind of had to change the headgear, we had no choice as we had to change up something."

This was Volatile Analyst's seven career success with six coming in Britain.
