Thornton stable after Leicester fall Jockey Robert Thornton was expected to spend Tuesday night under observation in hospital following his crashing fall at Leicester, but he is not thought to have been seriously injured. Thornton was riding Cracboumwiz for Alan King in the three-runner Dick Christian Novices' Chase when his mount fell at the third-last fence while battling for the lead with The Polomoche, who was left to come home alone. Thornton was carried off the course on a stretcher before an ambulance took him to Leicester Royal Infirmary, where he was visited by fellow jockey Andrew Tinkler. A hospital spokesman said: "He is in our emergency department at the moment, awaiting x-rays, and is in a stable condition". Tinkler said: "I believe they are keeping him in tonight for observation, and x-rays, but from what I gather it isn't serious. "I saw him for about a minute and a half, and he thought he would be okay. He was just in a little bit of discomfort in his kidney area."
