Night Of Thunder is likely to be stepped up in trip for the Coral-Eclipse at Sandown on July 5.

The Richard Hannon-trained colt came off second best in his rematch with John Gosden's Kingman having been a surprise 40-1 winner of the 2000 Guineas.

Richard Hughes adopted new front-running tactics on the son of Dubawi and while he had no answer to the impressive winner, he yet again showed himself to be a three-year-old of the highest calibre.

Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owner Saeed Manana, said: "The winner looks exceptional. There wouldn't seem to be much point in taking him on again over a mile so I'd have thought we'd look at stepping up in trip.

"There's talk of the Eclipse and that might be next. There's a lot of good horses around at a mile so that will probably be the route he goes."
