Thyne Again Update

Liam Burke has admitted it has been a race against time getting Thyne Again ready for the Saturday's Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase at Leopardstown.

The Mallow trainer would have liked at least another week after the seven-year-old was held up by a viral infection.

"He's coming back to himself but he had a viral infection and I am more hopeful than anything and he could do with another week or 10 days. He was going to go for the John Durkan Memorial Punchestown Chase but he got the infection 10 days before," said Burke.

Thyne Again is 4-1 joint-second favourite with the sponsors following his victory in the Woodlands Park 100 Club Poplar Square Chase at Naas on his latest start. Burke, though, thinks the trip of two miles and a furlong is the minimum for his charge.

Burke added: "He's OK over the trip and he wants soft ground, although not too heavy, but he handles yielding to soft. Two and a half miles is his ideal distance and that's why I wanted to run in the John Durkan to find out whether to go back or up to three miles. However, he's done nothing wrong over two.

"Naas was an ordinary race and I'm hoping to go back to Cheltenham with him for either the Champion Chase, which looks a one horse race but anything can happen, or the Ryanair Chase. I'll probably give him two more runs after Leopardstown before then and I'll look at what's available."

Paddy Power installed Mansony as 7-2 favourite to land back-to-back victories in the Dial-A-Bet Chase.

They removed Twist Magic from the betting after his owner, Barry Fulton, revealed his horse was "99% certain" to run at Kempton in the Desert Orchid Chase the same day.

Fulton said: "Leopardstown is quite soft and I think we'll end up at Kempton, where it looks like being better ground. On ground, we're definitely going to Kempton and he's 99% certain to run at Kempton on Saturday."

Twist Magic's trainer Paul Nicholls is instead likely to rely upon Natal, who is a 4-1 chance.
