Shane Quinlan recorded his first career success as he partnered the Peter Fahey trained Tiger Bay Lady to victory in the RSS Document Storage Sligo Maiden Hurdle.

Quinlan who is nineteen and from Glanworth in Co Cork was having just his third track ride aboard the six-year-old daughter of Flemensfirth.

She won a point-to-point at Ballindenisk on her second start in May and she was sent off an easy to back 8/1 chance here on her racecourse debut (5’s this morning and opened at 7’s on-course).

Having raced in mid-division she took closer order from the third last flight.

She was ridden before two out, hitting the front turning into the straight before going on to score by three and a half lengths. Changeofluck finished second at 3/1 under John Cullen for Noel Dooly while Stonehall Jack (33/1) was a further eleven lengths back in third under Barry Cash for Davy Fitzgerald after attempting to make all. Polish Partisan was sent off the 4/6 favourite but he could only manage a very disappointing fourth under Barry Geraghty for Edward O’Grady.

Peter Fahey, speaking by phone while on holiday in Portugal, said: "It’s great for Shane. That’s his first winner and hopefully he will get a few more outside rides now. He’s been with me a few years, and gave her a lovely ride.

"She jumps well and will probably go straight over fences now."

The winner is owned by the nine member Bogmen Syndicate from Laois and Offaly which was set up by Kieran Leavy.
