Timeform have Camelot well clear Epsom Derby winner Camelot won't have to be anywhere near his best to win the Irish Derby at the Curragh on Saturday, according to Timeform. Aidan O'Brien's dual classic winner posted a Timeform rating of 130 when beating Main Sequence by five lengths at Epsom and is currently rated 9lb superior to his nearest form rival on Saturday, stable-companion Astrology, who finished third behind him in the Derby but has since disappointed at Royal Ascot. The biggest threat could come from another Ballydoyle runner, Imperial Monarch (119p), who was so impressive when taking the wide route in the Classic Trial at Sandown before catching the eye in the French Derby at Chantilly, flying home down the outside after meeting trouble in a messy race. Other challengers could include Dermot Weld's Gallinule Stakes winner, Speaking of Which, Jim Bolger's Light Heavy and John Oxx's Born to Sea, but the race really does look at the mercy of Camelot. Timeform's Irish Editor Stuart Jones commented: "Camelot has lived up to the hype this year and is fully expected to keep his unbeaten record intact before he attempts to complete the Triple Crown. "The rating he achieved when winning the Derby puts him well clear of his rivals on Saturday and he won't need to reproduce that form to prevail. However, there's every chance that he will achieve an even bigger rating further down the line, hence he still has a 'p' attached to his Timeform rating."
