  • 3.52 Tipperary - Sup of Red

The action kicks off at Tipperary with a maiden over five furlongs, and while many come into this making their debut, one that sets a very solid standard on form is Sup Of Red.

She’s a half sister to Kodi Red, a four-time winner over five and six furlongs, suggesting that speed will not be an issue. She will also have the added benefit of being drawn in stall nine for this one, with there being a slightly high draw advantage on the sprint course at Tipperary.

Jack Davison’s filly attracted market support before running a huge race on her debut in a five-furlong maiden at Cork, when she was beaten by a length-and-a-half, but put in an eye-catching performance coming from the back of the field and staying on well. There is no doubt that the daughter of Supremacy will benefit greatly from that experience and should be much sharper coming into this as a result.

T Or Coffey looks to be an interesting runner at Kilbeggan on Thursday. Paul Mulligan’s representative’s latest performance was better than suggested when fourth at Down Royal last time out on his handicap debut. He found himself short of room in the run in but kept on well and finished clear of the rest of the field.

The four-year-old remains unexposed at this level and it is interesting to note that connections have opted to drop him back down to two miles here. However, he showed signs of promise at this distance when finishing third on debut to some well regarded horses at Killarney back in August, and as a result is nicely handicapped coming into this. Alex Harvey renews the partnership and claims a handy 5lb.

    5.32 Tipperary - Kortez Bay

This race looks to be a competitive affair on paper with many feeling that they have a chance of success. No more than Gary Carroll’s Kortez Bay who arrives here off the back of an impressive second place finish in the Irish Lincoln.

His performance that day at the Curragh caught the eye after a slow start saw him eventually pull away from the rest of the field only to be beaten less than a length to Shane Foley’s Orandi (who backed up this run with an impressive third place finish in the Lincoln at Doncaster).

Carroll’s gelding has course form having previously won at Tipperary, which will help his cause here despite facing a step down in trip. However if he handles the distance, he’s got his ideal racing conditions and is a major player coming into this.
