Token gets off the mark

Special Token gained a deserved success when running out a cosy winner of the beginners chase at Limerick.

The mare had been demoted after scoring at Cork last time but the result was never in doubt this afternoon.

Martin Ferris always had his mount prominent and she kicked on going to the second last.

The Joe O'Keeffe-trained mare pulled well clear before the final fence and despite running down the last the 11/8 favourite was well in command. Carrigdhoun came through for second but was nine-and-a-half lengths off the winner.

"I rode her a bit differently than in Cork the last day and she seemed to enjoy herself," reported the winning rider afterwards.
